The User Targeted Layers and the AppStore feature enables the end-user to select and install an application in a stateful VDI machine.
A User Targeted Layer is a selection of one or more packages that are eligible for installation by the end-user of the system.
The end-user selects the application(s) which needs to be installed from the Login AM AppStore. The AppStore takes care of the installation and configuration of the application.
Note: This feature is only available on the collection type Stateful VDI.
Getting started with User targeted layers
To get started with user targeted layers, go to User targeted layers in the right navigation menu.
Click on New UTL, provide a name for the User targeted layer and a security group that you want to use to assign the applications from this UTL to. End users need to be a member of this group to be able to see the UTL and it's packages in the AppStore application.
Now that the UTL is created, packages can be added to it by clicking the Add button.
You can specify whether the security group for the UTL needs to be appended with the Prefix/Suffix as is configured in the security plugin on a collection level. In this example, AM is configured to use DEV- as a security group prefix, so the end-users would need to be member of the security group: DEV-Office Users in order to see the UTL and it's packages in the AppStore application.
Users can start the Login AM AppStore from the Start Menu.
The user can select the applications they wish to install. Click the Start button, when ready.
